BARBARA DICKSON - Che Faro
In 1986 Barbara was approached to take part in a TV special with the intention of discovering whether a pop singer could, with training, tackle a classical aria.
The resulting documentary follows Barbara in her quest to train as a classical singer, working with voice coach Ian Adams and taking advice from professionals in the classical field. The DVD also features interview footage of Barbara at home talking at length about her own career and the difficulties of learning a completely new singing technique.
Never released before on any format, 'Che Faro' features this rare show in its entirety.
Barbara also performs some of her best-loved songs including 'Caravans', 'MacCrimmon's Lament' and 'Boulder to Birmingham' as well as delivering her own take on the classical pieces 'Che Faro' from the opera Orfeo ed Eurydice, and Manuel de Falla's 'Nanas'.
"You want to bottle her voice - it's perfect." (Melvyn Bragg - The South Bank Show)
"Barbara Dickson is a very special talent" (Sir George Martin)
"I love Barbara Dickson. From the very first time I heard her, her voice just nailed me to the wall! Her voice has that kind of smoothness... she's just a one-off." (Billy Connolly)
